TFL's reference number: 3003620

In early 2012 the Transport for London held consultation to seek your views on improving river crossings in East and South London. TFL asked individuals and businesses to give opinions on two infrastructure projects:

  • The “Silvertown Tunnel” – a road tunnel running between the Greenwhich Peninsula and Silvertown, and
  • The “Gallions Reach Ferry” – a new vehicle ferry running beween Thamesmead and Beckton

Below is a copy of the letter addressed to people living in East and South London:

"We’d like to hear your opinions on a more detailed set of plans, including locations and designs, potential benefits and impacts, and options for funding the crossings.

Information on these proposals is available on the consultation website at or you can request a leaflet by calling us on 0843 222 1234.

You can give us your views by completing the questionnaire online at

We are holding a series of roadshows to give people the chance to come and discuss the proposals with us. You can find out about details of roadshow locations and dates by clicking here (pdf file).

This consultation will close on 1 February 2013."

Yours sincerely,
